One of the most common reasons why you should try meditation is to push stress away. Meditation can dramatically decrease the level of the stress hormone cortisol in your body. Several studies have concluded that meditation can really help improve the symptoms of diseases like irritable bowel syndrome, fibromyalgia etc. Other than that meditation can also be used to control anxiety, an invasive feeling that pervades our everyday life. A meta-analysis of 1300 people suffering from anxiety found that practicing meditation reduced the levels of anxiety, proving that it could be used to treat several anxiety disorders.

Meditation can also be practiced as a self-care activity. Meditation can improve emotional health and promote a positive outlook and body image in people. Meditation helps you to reconcile your inner struggles and desires which leads to a calmer and less tormented mind.
