Paraffin wax, first used in the 1850s for candle making, is derived from petroleum through oil refining. Though affordable and efficient, it releases carbon dioxide and soot when burned, contributing to indoor air pollution and reliance on fossil fuels.

Soy wax,

developed in the 1990s as a natural alternative to paraffin, is made from hydrogenated soybean oil. Renewable and biodegradable, it burns cleaner and longer, producing less soot and carbon emissions, making it a more sustainable choice for candles and home fragrances.
