ODOP X PRAVAAH

The One District One Product (ODOP) initiative is a flagship programme by the Government of India designed to nurture, preserve and promote the unique strengths of every district across the country. Each district is home to a craft, a produce, or a tradition that has been passed down through generations. ODOP identifies these treasures, giving them the recognition they deserve and ensuring that the people behind them, the farmers, artisans, and makers, have a sustainable way to thrive.

For us at Pravaah, ODOP is more than just an initiative, it is a natural extension of what we already stand for: sustainability, dignity of labour, and conscious living. By showcasing ODOP-certified products, we are able to honour local heritage, provide artisans with fair opportunities, and bring mindful luxury into homes and businesses that value authenticity.

Preservation | Empowerment | Identity

PRESERVATION
Every ODOP product carries with it centuries of knowledge, whether it is the way Himalayan herbs are distilled into pure extracts, how brass is hammered and polished into timeless forms, or how clay and wool are shaped into sustainable essentials. ODOP ensures these practices do not fade away but continue to evolve with dignity.

EMPOWERMENT
Behind every ODOP product is a person, a family, or an entire community whose livelihood depends on that craft. By recognising and promoting district-specific products, ODOP creates economic opportunities that are inclusive, decentralised, and sustainable. It helps artisans and farmers earn fair wages and gain the independence to thrive in their own hometowns, reducing the need for migration.

IDENTITY
ODOP also helps build a sense of pride. Each district is given an identity through its craft or produce, strengthening local communities while connecting them to national and international markets. It reminds us that India’s richness lies not just in its diversity, but in the authenticity of each local story.

Nestled amidst the pristine Garhwal Himalayas, Pauri Garhwal is celebrated for its rare abundance of medicinal and aromatic plants. The altitude, pure mountain air, and mineral-rich soil create the perfect conditions for herbs and flowers to flourish, many of which have been used in traditional healing and rituals for centuries.

Recognised under ODOP, the district symbolises the unique harmony between nature and community knowledge that sustains it.

At Pravaah, we honour this herbal legacy through products like Gulab Ras – our pure rose water, distilled in small batches from handpicked Himalayan roses. The process is as natural as the hills themselves, retaining the therapeutic essence of the flowers without any additives. Gulab Ras is more than a mindful luxury; it is a bridge that connects consumers to the purity of the Himalayas and ensures that local farming families find dignity and stability in their livelihoods.

Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh

The fertile soil of Bulandshahr has long been moulded by skilled hands into terracotta and ceramic creations. Recognised under ODOP, the district embodies India’s pottery traditions, where clay is patiently shaped, fired, and finished with care that has been passed down through generations.

At Pravaah, we bring this tradition to life through our best-selling candles, all of which are poured into hand-crafted pottery from Bulandshahr. Each piece becomes more than just a candle – it is a blend of earth and flame, utility and art. By choosing these candles, you not only welcome a mindful touch into your home or space but also support the livelihoods of artisans who continue to carry forward Bulandshahr’s timeless craft.

Wool & Natural Fibres – Tehri Garhwal

Perched high in the Himalayas, Tehri Garhwal has nurtured a way of life rooted in natural fibres and sustainable traditions. Recognised under ODOP for its natural fibre crafts, the district is home to communities that have spun, dyed, and woven Himalayan wool for generations. Alongside wool, the region is also known for Bhimal fibre, a hardy yet versatile natural material extracted from the Grewia optiva tree. Both fibres are integral to the local economy, with pastoral and agrarian families relying on them for daily needs as well as artisan crafts.

Pravaah celebrates this heritage through crocheted coasters, and other products crafted from pure Himalayan wool, alongside explorations into Bhimal’s sustainable potential.
Each piece tells a story of mountain resilience – of communities who continue their ancestral crafts despite the challenges of modern migration. By choosing these products, conscious consumers not only bring natural comfort into their spaces but also invest in livelihoods, gender empowerment, and the timeless beauty of Himalayan traditions.
